Found in : Water (H2O), hydroxides, virtually all organic compounds. Rare as native mineral.
Used for : Fuel cells, ammonia production (fertilizers), petroleum refining, rocket propellant.
Remarkable : The most abundant element in the universe, making up roughly 75% of all ordinary matter. The Sun converts 600 million tonnes of hydrogen into helium every second.
