Cavansite is such a vivid electric blue that newcomers often assume it has been dyed. It grows as tiny starburst rosettes on pale rock, one of the sharpest color contrasts in the mineral world.

Stilbite helped name a whole mineral family. Heated, it releases its trapped water and froths as if boiling, the behavior that inspired the word zeolite, literally boiling stone.
