The mineral that hardens your tooth enamel is also a piece of a lunar puzzle. Most of the apatite in Apollo Moon rocks is fluorapatite, and the hydrogen hidden in it once pushed estimates of the Moon's water too high.
Albite is named from the Latin for white, yet it hides a trick of light. Fine layers of albite woven through orthoclase scatter light into the floating blue sheen of moonstone, an effect called adularescence.
